If flyash is harmful to the environment, how can flyash bricks be ecofriendly?

Definitely! flyash is harmful to environment that is the one reason why flyash bricks are eco-friendly.
Flyash is a coal combustion product.
Flyash bricks
The main reason behind flyash bricks being ecofriendly is that the main constituent used in its manufacturing is flyash which is about 60% by mass, and rest are sand/stonedust 30%,OPC/lime+gypsum 10%.
✓And since flyash is a waste product it is utilised in brick manufacturing.
The manufacturing method saves energy, reduces mercury pollution, and costs 20% less than traditional clay brick manufacturing.
✓Energy saving also makes it ecofriendly.
It Fal-G( flyash-lime-gypsum ) does not need any pressure and gets cured at ambient temperature of 20-40 °C. By avoiding both press and heating chamber, FaL-G process has brought down the multi-million plant cost to a few hundred thousand, within the reach of micro units. This has facilitated proliferation of over 18000 units in the country as of 2016.
✓Thus, saves electricity.
Some small but important factors making flyash bricks ecofriendly are:
•High fire Insulation.
•Due to uniform size of bricks mortar required for joints and plaster reduces almost by 50%.

Common myths (mostly prevlant in India)
That clay bricks are stronger than flyash bricks but it is not true.
The strength of fly ash brick manufactured with the above compositions is normally of the order of 7.5 N/mm2 to 10 N/mm2. Fly ash bricks are lighter and stronger than clay bricks.
